PROGRESSIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR FINE ARTS PRINTMAKING
ARTS & CREATIVE MATERIALS INSTITUTE
Both the Z*ACRYL HARDGROUND EMULSION and STOP OUT RESIST have been comprehensively tested in all manner of application and certified as "AP (Approved Product) Non Toxic" by the Arts & Crafts Materials Institute. Toxicological evaluation and approval was conducted under the direction of Dr. Woodhall Stopford, M.D., Director of Duke University Medical Center Occupational Health Service.
To quote from the ACMI guidebook:
"The AP seal identifies art materials that are safe and that are certified in a toxicological evaluation by a medical expert to contain no materials in sufficient quantities to be toxic or injurious to humans, or to cause acute or chronic health problems. These products are certified by ACMI to be labeled in accordance with the chronic hazard labeling standard, ASTM D 4236, and the U.S. Labeling of Hazardous Art Materials Act (LHAMA). All products certified as non toxic by ACMI are non toxic for both children and adults because the Toxicologist bases evaluation on the use and misuse (such as direct ingestion) of the product by a small child. The Toxicologist must approve each ingredient and its quantity, the formula of every color of every product and must approve every formula change. Safety is the only consideration."

Z*ACRYL ETCHING SYSTEMS is proud to be associated with the Arts & Creative Materials Institute--and proud of the certification our products have received. One of the primary objectives in the development of Z*Acryl was to eliminate, wherever possible, materials and practices that are physically and environmentally hazardous. It is a good idea to look for the AP seal when purchasing any art materials.
