The CRATE is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the advancement and practice of fine art printmaking. It is intended as a place of invention, experimentation and artmaking. Classes, workshops and demonstrations are offered on an on-going basis throughout the year. The following (6-hour per day) classes are taught as 2-day ($300), 3-day ($450), and 5-day ($600) programs. Tuition is discounted 20% for students currently enrolled in MFA programs.
Basic Etching Techniques (also offered as a single-day program)
Intro to dry-point, hardground, aquatint, and other traditional
intaglio techniques. All processes utilize nontoxic materials.
Introduction to Photoetching
An introduction to the latest techniques and technologies for
photo mechanical etching. The program will focus on the use of
photopolymer films and will explore the integration of hand-drawn,
Xeroxed, and digitally manipulated imagery.
Intensive Photoetching
This program is designed for artists who have a background in
"traditional" photoetching processes, experience with Adobe Phtoshop
on the Macintosh, and previous experience in generating positive
transparencies. The course will focus on more advanced uses of
the photopolymer films for photointaglio.
Macintosh & Digital Imaging Classes
The CRATE offers a full array of computer imaging classes. From a 1-day
introduction to the Macintosh computer, to intensive six session
advanced programs on Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark XPress.
Mac and digital classes are private tutorials, tuition is $125
per 4-hour day.

& multi-media in the US.
JULY (dates pending) SUMMER INTENSIVE INSTITUTE ON INNOVATIVE PRINTMAKING. Co-taught with Robin Mcklosky.
This 10-day intensive program will bring together 10-12 printmakers from around the country who wish to explore a full range of environmentally and physically safe tools and techniques for etching, photoetching, and their integration with digitally created and hand-drawn imagery.
70 total hours of instruction.
30+ hours of comprehensive work in Macintosh computer applications
Color separations on the Mac and multiple-plate color printing.
